Barry Mestel of the Orlando Lightning Named 2014 Coach of the Year

The American Basketball League announced today that Barry Mestel has been named the 2014 Coach of the Year.

 

Barry led his Orlando Lightning to a regular season tie for first place in his first year coaching in the ABL.  He also was instrumental in helping two of his key players sign overseas contracts during the middle of the season.

 

Barry Mestel came to the ABL this season with a wealth of coaching experience on many levels.  He coached 12 years on the high school level and compiled a record of 135 wins and only 17 losses.

 

He also coached professionally throughout seven countries and is currently the owner of Winning Ways Pro International which specializes in professional basketball combines for players interested in going overseas.

 

Barry has also served as an NBA scout as well as the shooting coach for the WNBA.
